The GTX 285 is what the GTX 280 should have been. In the industry, we call this a "performance kicker". It's faster, consumes less and is cheaper to produce - all the ingredients that buyers love. Yet, the little story is that NVIDIA could have made the GTX 280 be that good, but at the time, they didn't think that the Radeon 4870 would be so good and decided to spend time and resources elsewhere (hey, it's always easy to criticize in hindsight).

Motorola PEBL Rose Bloom for Valentine’s

I am not a huge fan of what I call the "pink" technology, since women deserve to like more than one color and appreciate high end specs too. This new Motorola basic phone fits the stereotype: pink and regular specs. However, the design is subtle and elegant; in addition, the pink color is discreet and it has 3.5G. The Motorola PEBL Rose Bloom will be available in Korea from SK telecom for an undisclosed price. It features a touch sensitive external panel, a 2 MP camera, a 3.5 mm audio jack, Bluetooth and HSDPA. Sony Ericsson Prototype Theft Arrested

100 handsets, including Sony Ericsson prototypes have been found in the apartment of a man accused of stealing from Sony Ericsson. He is not an employee, but was apparently a contractor for the firm. The estimated value of his stash is $90,000. One might think that he could have sold the phones to Sony Ericsson's competitors or simply on eBay as the launches become imminent. After all, a BlackBerry 8900 was sold for 17,000 recently. I wonder if he posted the photos on Flickr before being busted… [via gearlog via engadgetmobile]. Obama Phone Launched in Kenya

We knew that Kenya was already home to the Obama beer, but now the Obama brand will also be used by to sell phones. The device itself is quite simple, but the back has the "Yes We Can" slogan with Obama at the top. Note that the 'O' letter is also where the camera is. The phone retails for $30 - in Kenya.
